Clarice Lispector

Franz Kafka, Czech writer, was born on
July 3, 1883. He was Jewish and had a
conflicting relationship with his father,
an oppressive figure who was, indirectly,
present in the writer's narratives. Graduated
in Law, he worked for 14 years, at the
Occupational Accident Insurance Institute,
but he retired early in 1922, due to
tuberculosis. Therefore, he was unable to
dedicate himself exclusively to writing.

The writer's works have expressionist
traits and are encompassed by modernism.
Therefore, it is possible to verify, in their
narratives, the deformation of reality, the
presence of allegories, anti-conventionalism,
nonsense and pessimism. His main books are
The Metamorphosis, Der Process and The
Castle. His best friend, Max Brod, was
largely responsible for publicizing the
author's works, who died on June 3, 1924.
